The Royals finally joins the ever-growing list of TV shows cancelled.
E! has dethroned the royal comedy-drama after four seasons, having opted not to renew for Season 5, TVShowsCancelled.com confirms.
The decision follows the firing of series creator/EP Mark Schwahn for claims of sexual harassment.
Said an E! spokesperson in a statement:
“E! will not be moving forward with another season of The Royals, which launched in 2015 as the network’s first original scripted series. Over four seasons, The Royals took viewers behind the palace gates on a scandalous journey filled with twists and turns. We are grateful to the cast and our producing partners at Lionsgate and Universal Cable Productions.”
Could The Royals still have a pulse despite cancellation at E!?
Series producer Lionsgate is reportedly shopping The Royals Season 5 to other outlets, with Pop said to be among the potential candidates to resurrect the series.
However, a Royals revival is thought to be unlikely.
RIP.
