The Rookie has graduated.
According to sources, ABC has quietly renewed the Nathan Fillion cop drama for Season 2.
The second season of The Rookie is slated to premiere in fall 2019.
The renewal comes after The Rookie was picked up for a full first season.

Fillion sucks. Cancel, then he can relocate to Planet Uranus.
What planet are you from? Fillion is a nuanced and emotionally complex actor. Maybe you are too accustomed to male actors who have only one expression no matter what is going on.

Those are my two favorite shows but I love The Rookie. Nathan Fillon is such a good actor and he plays the role so well.

The show is decent— though total fiction. Fillion is not a nice person in real life though— ask Stania. I have a hard time buying him as this nice, kind man.
A friend of mine works in the industry. She indicates that Stana can be a “brat”. Her words exactly. Stan’s leaving was less about being “fired” and more about she wanted the to do her own show–more power to her. I am part on the 20% who were not really bothered by her leaving. I thought the show could take a more noir-turn. In any case, “Castle” should have had an elegant ninth season to wrap the show . ABC and A.M. should have taken a clue from Joss Whedon on how to respect the cast and the fans.
“Castle” was the only ABC show worth my attention. Now, “The Rookie”, is the only show I watch on ABC.
How can he continue being a rookie tho?

Now that the last episode of Season 1 has aired, and knowing that the ratings have not been that high, my husband and I were worried that the-powers-that-be might not realize how much this show resonates with the average person. We are so relieved to hear that there will be a Season 2. We have become involved in the stories of many of the show’s characters and look forward to each episode to vicariously follow their professional and social lives. We have always respected the police force, but if the action we see every week is truly an indication of what they actually go through, then we are feel we owe these public servants a debt of gratitude.
Love the show! Have the DVR set to record series just in case I miss an episode. So very glad there will be a Season 2. Love the specific relationships within the core of this drama. They all work well as a team, yet I am drawn in by the special stories of each of the cast members. Hope this series has a long life!
