It’s official. Following its cancellation at Syfy, Amazon has renewed/revived The Expanse for Season 4, slated to stream in 2019, RenewCancelTV has learned.
Alcon Entertainment Co-Founders and Co-CEOs Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson said of The Expanse’s Amazon resurrection:
“We couldn’t be more excited that THE EXPANSE is going to continue on Amazon Prime! We are deeply grateful that Jeff Bezos, Jen Salke, and their team at Amazon have shown such faith in our show.
They added:
“We also want to thank Laura Lancaster, head of Alcon Television for her tireless efforts. We are fully aware that this wouldn’t have been possible if it wasn’t for the staggering outpouring of support from the most creative, hardest working sci-fi fans around the world.

One thing as #TheExpanse moves to its new home with @AmazonStudios. I do want to thank everyone at @SYFY who made the first three seasons of the show possible. We wouldn't have launched in the first place without you folks.
No hard feelings. Only love, yeah?

Amazon has revived The Expanse for Season 4, ten days after it was cancelled by Syfy, THR reveals:
The retailer and streaming outlet is near a deal to revive space drama The Expanse for a fourth season just 10 days after Syfy canceled the series. Amazon Studios declined comment as sources note the deal is not closed.
Starring Steven Strait and based on James S.A. Comedy’s best-selling book series of the same name, Syfy had only first-run linear rights in the U.S. to The Expanse. Amazon Studios had streaming rights to the first three seasons of the show. Sources say Bezos is a big fan of the book and was livid that the TV series went to NBCUniversal-owned Syfy. The move is said to have ignited Bezos’ demand that Amazon Studios brass find the company’s version of Game of Thrones.
Will you follow The Expanse Season 4 to Amazon? Should the series have remained cancelled after three seasons?
UPDATE: per our trusted sources, The Expanse Season 4 is indeed locked on Amazon, with the company to confirm the revival in the coming days.
Stay tuned as we now monitor the renew/cancel status of The Expanse Season 5 on Amazon…

This is actually false (as of yet). You should change your article to avoid spreading fake news and false information (which is precisely what this article is as of now).

Here in my country is streamed by Netflix, so I bet that to me is the end. I will not subscribe another service to follow the show. Is this the future? having to subscribe several of streaming services to follow the same show because when one cancels other one takes it.

Well done, Amazon. Now, do the same thing with Code Black, Lucifer and Scorpion, please.
Curtis Mathews says
I am glad that these shows are being saved, but not everyone has the money to pay for Amazon and other pay streaming outlets. I myself am retired and live on Social Security. That is why I rely on SyFy, CW and other cable channels to get my Science Fiction fix.
Vesel says
That is your own problem.
Barry Etheridge says
Possibly the best sci-fi show ever on TV so I can only cheer to the rafters Amazon’s decision whilst once again reflecting on SyFy’s string of utterly baffling failures to back the best in the genre. Is it going to make effort to be a sci-fi channel or not?
