The Chew Cancelled By ABC – No Season 8; Good Morning America Extended

May 23, 2018 by TVShowsCancelled 8 Comments

ABC has cancelled The Chew after seven seasons. The network has opted not to renew the daytime lifestyle series for Season 8.

The cancellation of The Chew makes room for more Good Morning America, which has been extended to a third hour.

Ben Sherwood, co-chairman, Disney Media Networks, and president, Disney/ABC Television, said of the decision:

“Over the past six years Good Morning America has solidified its place as America’s No. 1 morning show. We believe there is great opportunity for viewers and advertisers in expanding to a third hour.”

Sherwood added:

“While this is the right decision for our business, it is also bittersweet. For seven years ‘The Chew’ has delighted audiences by delivering innovative food segments in an entertaining atmosphere. We applaud and thank Gordon Elliott, Aimee Householder, Michael Symon, Carla Hall, Clinton Kelly and the entire cast and crew for their great work and amazing run. And we wish them the very best.”

Remaining episodes of The Chew‘s seventh and now final season will continue to air through September 2018. Good Morning America‘s third hour will then kick in at 1pm ET each day.

RIP.

Never watched, nor would I since they canceled All My Children for this dumb program. I’m happy to see it’s failed. I only wish it had been sooner.

These Network decisions to set their show cancellation policy by one person’s deplorable behavior, makes no sense…..
You are punishing the Chew crew
You are punishing the Chew viewers

This has been my go to escape from the crappy world events…
GMA won’t cut it!.I for one, won’t watch it!!

Totally agree with Joan!! You’re making everyone suffer for one man? Walt wouldn’t want this ABC, he would have seen the bigger picture. This isn’t business, it’s a CYA move. We see right through you & your lawyers.

I don’t watch it either. However, what is the point of Good Morning America being on at 1pm? It’s not morning anymore. And I don’t watch the other Good Morning America hours, and won’t watch this one, either.

I don’t watch Good Morning America but my fiancee and I watched the Chew daily but it has gone down hill after Mario got booted (does anyone really care about the accusations against him from years ago, we didn’t) and Daphne left. They were stuck with Michael, Clinton and the phony and obnoxious Karla Hall who I wish would have gone away long ago.

And still ABC continues to condone the antics of The View yet cancels Roseann for FAR less.

Who really cares I guess, ABC is and has been the last place network for years, they aren’t going to offer any better programming to make that change.
