The Big Bang Theory has finally been cancelled after a 12-season run, but not before time, according to Jim Parsons.
Speaking to EW (via TVLine), the actor admitted he “just felt that it was time” for the series to meet the cancellation reaper:
“There is no negative reason to stop doing Big Bang. There are good reasons. We’ve been able to do this for so many years, it doesn’t feel like there is anything left on the table. Not that we couldn’t keep doing it; the writers could still think of wonderful things for us to do. But it feels like we chewed all of the meat off this bone.”
Parsons admitted that it would have become more difficult to convincingly portray Sheldon:
“I’m firmly in my middle age now. I don’t know how much longer I can wear [the T-shirts] without looking really long in the tooth.”
Do you think the time was right to cancel Big Bang Theory, or would you have been up for Season 13 or beyond?
Marsha Warner says
I love Big Bang. I watch it every day. On Saturday I watch the rerun marathon. It would do well without Sheldon. His character is very tiring anyway. Sometimes I wish I could just slug him. The other characters are just as funny if not more
Dave says
I never want it to end!
Joe B says
It’s time as it’s just not as funny anymore.
Judy says
I would watch Big Bang till the end of time! Love ALL the characters! Watch reruns every day. Would continue to watch with or without Sheldon, love it that much!

I’m really gonna miss this show, I’ve been sad ever since they announced this would be the final season….I love all the characters and story lines always laugh out loud funny! But at least I have all the seasons on DVD….still sad there’ll be no new one’s.
