Freeform has cancelled Shadowhunters after three seasons. The cabler has opted not to renew the supernatural drama for Season 4.
En route to the graveyard, Shadowhunters will wrap its third and final season with a 12-episode run — titled Shadowhunters: The Final Hunt — concluding with a 2-hour series finale in spring 2019.
Freeform said of the decision to cancel Shadowhunters:
“We are very proud of Shadowhunters, a series that broke new ground in the genre world and became a fan favorite. However, along with our partners at Constantin, we reached the very difficult decision not to renew the show for a fourth season. But as big supporters and fans ourselves, Freeform insisted on and championed the filming of a special two-part finale that would give devoted fans a proper ending. The 12 episodes will air in spring 2019. We want to thank our talented creators, producers, cast and crew along with our colleagues at Constantin for their hard work and dedication and to Cassie Clare for her incredible book series. We look forward to the final chapter of this breakthrough drama.”

I still can’t explain the cancel such good series and renew series so bad to watch.

I am so sick of these networks. No shows ever last long on freeform so you would think that the one that has a fan base like Shadow hunters would keep going. There are some extremely ridiculous shows that are on there 12th season or higher but the good ones seem to be getting canned. It’s so hard to get into a show these days when we can’t trust the network to keep it going. How stupid can you be to cancel a show that is doing great. I will no longer watch anything on freeform after the shows end. Hopefully a different network will see the completely stupid mistake freeform just made and pick the show up. Smh.

I’m sure glad at least that they’re giving us an ending for this show I like, instead of just leaving it, us where it ended this last season.
