Poldark Season 5 will be the last in the BBC drama’s run, according to star Aidan Turner, however “it could come back in ten years,” per Digital Spy:
“I have some mixed feelings, I suppose. It’s been big for us all, and it’ll always be a very special thing. But things naturally come to an end, I suppose.
I think we’ve done really well with Winston [Graham]’s books, [on which the series is based]. I hope he’d be proud. Certainly, Andrew – his son – is, and the estate, so I think we’ve done pretty well with it.
You don’t want things to go on too long and just limp out the backdoor. So I think next year [the fifth series] might be the last one – certainly for a while. We may come back. Who knows?
The jump is huge,” Turner acknowledged. “But I’m not putting grey in my hair [for the next series] or anything like that. I’ll come back in 10 years and revisit it the right way.”
Aidan’s revelation comes weeks after the BBC renewed Poldark for Season 5 without announcing it as the last in the series.
Cancelled or ended? Semantics aside, the fifth and seemingly final season of Poldark is slated to air in 2019.

What a shame!! There are too few shows this entertaining! Hopefully, this decision will be reconsidered.
What a shame. I loved that show. I’m confused though because last week it said the show was renewed and this week it says it’s cancelled after season 5. Hopefully they come back.
Turner doesn’t want to play Oldark. That’s what it basically comes down to. He stated a couple of years ago he didn’t want to play an aged Ross. So he’s the one whose refusing to go beyond season 5, He doesn’t think he’d be believable as an aged Ross. Of course, tell that to all the actors who’ve had to age in a role.
So, it’s Turner that’s cancelling Poldark not the BBC or anyone else.

I just found out that Code Black is being cancelled and now Poldark. What on earth will there be to watch as some of the best shows are being left behind.
Why on earth did they have to (age) the series anyway? I liked it just the way it is! This was one of my favorite shows on tv!
