HBO renewed its controversial teen drama Euphoria, which is Certified Fresh at 79% for its first season.
“Euphoria creator Sam Levinson has built an incredible world with an extraordinary cast led by the supremely talented Zendaya. We are so grateful that he chose HBO as the home for this groundbreaking series,” Francesca Orsi, executive vice president, HBO Programming, said in a statement.
The series, created and written by Levinson (The Wizard of Lies), follows a group of high school students as they “navigate a minefield of drugs, sex, identity, trauma, social media, love and friendship.” Zendaya (Spider-Man: Far From Home) plays 17-year-old addict Rue Bennett, whose life changes when she meets new girl Jules Vaughn (Hunter Schafer).
