After several close calls, Elementary has finally joined the list of TV shows cancelled.
The CBS procedural will end its run after seven seasons in summer 2019, TVShowsCancelled.com has confirmed.
Deadline reports on the cancellation:
The decision comes as the crime drama procedural, created by Rob Doherty and starring Jonny Lee Miller and Lucy Liu, wrapped production Friday on Season 7 with the final scene in the finale the last one to film.
I hear that when the network renewed Elementary for a seventh season in May less than two weeks into its Season 6 run, a decision was made that it would be the series’ final chapter.
“A lot of parties came together and talked about their positions on the show — both in terms of business and in terms of creative — and we all decided that this was an opportune time to say goodbye to a show that has been very, very good to us,” CBS Entertainment President Kelly Kahl said.
The 7th and final season will comprise 13 episodes. Per insiders, there are no plans to shop Elementary to other outlets.
Elementary joins fellow veteran The Big Bang Theory in CBS’ 2018-19 cancellation graveyard.

All good things come to an end. At least they’re not leaving it in the middle of a cliffhanger for once!
It stinks, it was my favorite of mine. Reality TV ruined the genre. Why pay for a nicely produced, scripted show, when you can pay a nobody to share all for pennies and 15 minutes of fame?

Sooo disappointed by this — really looked forward to their adventures in London. Damn, they always cancel the best shows. At least they had a spectacular finale — so going to miss this series!! ????

This is such an intelligent, fascinating show, I can’t believe they would cancel it in lieu of some of the other garbage that they keep.

I loved this show. Can’t wait to see the 2019 episodes. Right now I try to record the program repeats when it airs at 1:00 in the morning on Sundays on our local FOX station. Will be sorry to see it end.
We totally agree with Darlene. Elementary was an intelligent and creative show with a great cast. Not only were the episodes creative, we enjoyed the relationship between Sherlock and Lucy was so refreshing. Demonstrating that a man & woman can work together, respect each other, and love each other. As much as we thoroughly enjoyed the final episode – we will miss this highlight of our tv watching week. Any chance they could continue their work in London?
