Counterpart has joined the ever-expanding list of TV shows cancelled.
Starz has cancelled Counterpart after two seasons. The network has opted not to renew the J.K. Simmons drama for Season 3 following muted viewer response, TVShowsCancelled.com has learned.
Showrunner and creator Justin Marks responded to the cancellation, saying:
It’s been an absolute dream for this team… we got to make EXACTLY the show we wanted to… perfect cast, perfect crew on 2 continents… and we’re so grateful to our network for the time we had…
He added:
Thank you to everyone who made this journey so special for us. Your tweets, podcasts, and intricate conspiracy theories have made it all worthwhile.
Counterpart Season 3 revived? Marks is hoping Counterpart can live on elsewhere:
Fingers crossed that our wonderful studio, MRC, can find a way to keep the dream alive!

There’s nothing “muted” about my response. Ingenious, intelligent TV that we really need a lot more of and brilliant acting from the leads who are required to be two different versions of themselves. Somebody take this on, please!

It is sad that when a show comes along that doesn’t depend upon sex or politics to woo followers is cancelled as this one was….the story wasn’t over yet!

Another good show. This is surprising and unfortunate.
