Grey’s Anatomy could soon join the ever-expanding list of TV shows cancelled, or at least ending.
In an interview with EW, star Ellen Pompeo hints that the medical drama could conclude at the end of her current contract in 2020, which would take the show through Season 16:
“I’m clearly not prepared right now to make any formal announcement about what my future is on the show, but I am really feeling like we have told the majority of the stories that we can tell. It’s about time that I mix it up. I’m definitely looking for a change.”
When Grey’s Anatomy is finally wrapped, series creator Shonda Rhimes intends to return to pen the series finale:
“I have written the end of the show at least six times. But we just don’t end. Every time I thought, ‘This is how the show should end,’ we’ve gone past those moments, so I’ve stopped trying. I have no idea now.”
For its part, ABC has yet to confirm the future of Grey’s Anatomy beyond the upcoming 15th season, which premieres Sept. 27.
Is Grey’s Anatomy secretly cancelled? Is the end date set for 2020? Will it continue without Pompeo? Stay tuned…
