Quest Orders New Salvage Hunters & Spin-Offs After Smash-Hit Ratings

LONDON 12 June 2018 – Quest, Discovery UK’s factual entertainment free to air channel, is announcing a raft of commissions including three new series of Salvage Hunters and new signings for its spin-off series’ following record ratings and audience engagement this year.

Quest’s latest series of Salvage Hunters is on track to become the highest rating series of the franchise ever, averaging impressive audiences of 560k. Premiering earlier this year, Salvage Hunters: The Restorers and Salvage Hunters: Classic Cars were instant ratings successes and became Quest’s biggest new series launches ever.

Salvage Hunters returns with 45 new episodes as salvage expert Drew Pritchard crisscrosses the UK in search of hidden gems. Produced by Curve Media, series 13 starts with an exciting move for the team, as Drew closes down the warehouse and makes the Conwy shop his new base. It also features antiques fairs around the UK as well as special international episodes, where Drew hopes to source antiques that will keep him ahead of the curve.

Produced by Curve Media, Salvage Hunters: The Restorers (20×60’) and Salvage Hunters: Classic Cars (20×60’) are back for a second series. Salvage Hunters: The Restorers goes behind-the-scenes to meet the team at the heart of Salvage Hunters, as they restore all range of items from sofas and tables, to high-value curios and memorabilia. Drew Pritchard is also back with Salvage Hunters: Classic Cars teaming up with Paul Cowland on a motoring mission, as they scour the UK for classic cars to buy, restore and sell on.

Scrap Kings (20×60) and Mega Shippers (8×60) both produced by back2back also return to Quest. Scrap Kings showcases the incredible and innovative feats of engineering involved in bringing down a variety of structures, from factories to bridges, chimneys and multi-story carparks. Mega Shippers follows the complex workings of some of the most highly-skilled shippers at ports around the world. From companies specialised in shipping hazardous bulk, to the delivery of multi-million pound yachts, we follow the high pressure shipments from departure to arrival.

“Quest had a record-breaking quarter in Q1 this year, and we’re incredibly excited to serve our superfans more of the smash-hit series that drove those ratings. Salvage Hunters is our most successful franchise ever, and the new series and two spin-off shows promise to give fans more of the treasure hunting missions they love. Meanwhile, the expert teams from Scrap Kings and Mega Shippers are back with more showstopping demolitions and high stakes shipping drama,” said Simon Downing, SVP, Head of Quest and Eurosport UK.

The slate was ordered by Simon Downing and Ed Sayer, Victoria Noble was the Commissioning Editor. (Quest)
