Surely at some point it has to make better economic sense to keep even lower rated shows going rather than continually searching around for new stuff, making pilots, negotiating casting and so on? Does anybody have any hope of getting beyond a first series now with the slash and burn policies at ABC and CBS? It’s suicidal madness. How soon will people just give up on broadcast channels altogether when they’re being treated with complete contempt by the stations?
I haven’t started on The Crossing yet (and now won’t) but Deception is a reasonably entertaining watch with an interesting cast. I can’t be the only person on the planet who’s watching it. Give it a chance, for crying out loud!
I completely agree with you, Barry. ABC I noticed has been cancelling it’s shows after one season. I have seen shows that I really get interested in and then they just pull the rug out from under us. I have not watched Deception yet, but I will after finishing The Crossing. I really enjoy The Crossing. I think it has potential. I’m also bummed that they are also cancelling Designated Survivor. I really think it is a great show with Kiefer Sutherland as the President. You should give it a try (at least it is 2 seasons). Netflix got the rights to 2 seasons of Designated Survivor. I’m hoping they bring on a Season 3 at Netflix.
I love Designated Survivor and The Crossing. Deception was okay, but I could take it or leave it. I’m almost ready to quit trying their shows cause they let them go to quickly. I can’t believe Fox brought Prison Break back and then canceled it. The ratings have always been high on that show.I think they all need to lower their expectations some.
I agree with you Terry..I really like both Designated Survivor and The Crossing and had watched Deception but not faithfully. I watched Prison Break the first time around, ddint need to watch again. I am on the verge of not watching this network as well
.
How can you, ABC TV cancel Deception and keep Station 19, which is in no way as good as CBS’s Chicago Fire?
I love Deception – so does my husband and two adult sons, and my friends. This is the worst mistake made. I hope another station picks it up like Fox picked up Designated Survivor!
I have started watching more streaming shows. It seems that anything I like to watch gets cancelled. Will miss watching The Crossing, Deception, Designated Survivor and Lucifer. It seems they want reality shows and idiot themed sit coms.
I also agree, I think the networks are searching for the types of numbers they used to get when there were only the big 3 on TV. I’ve seen some very promising shows die an early death, while others, Last man on earth ( for one episode anyway) for instance are still on. They used to grow shows, NCIS took 2 or 3 seasons to actually get a decent audience and 15 years later, they are still here. Had they started withing the last few years, they never would have gotten past 13 episodes. Since the first no cost “reality” show turned into a hit, they are the only shows that seem to survive. The future of TV is looking bleak.
Deception is one of the more entertaining shows on TV these days. As a senior citizen, you treat us poorly. You also need to consider the family’s out there that watch TV in the evenings. You put shows on tv that the younger folks want. The only thing is, they aren’t home to watch them. If you want to put an unsure new program on, try alternative programming. This way you have a sure thing when your new program flops. Deception is fun for the whole family. Just saying.
ABC AND NBC GIVE YOUR HEADS A SHAKE AND WAKE UP I THINK I’ll not watch you guys anymore and stick with more dedicated channels. You guys and gals sicken me. And I’m the easy going one. Think how many people you are allianating.
oh mannnnnnn another show I was liking & now being cancelled,,, what the what?????????
Agreeing with all the above comments & AL eg.. us senior citizens are enjoying many of the shows & they keep on with their stupid 18-49 demographic which really gets to me like we don’t count at all in any of the ratings.
OH but they renewed this stupid show A.P. Bio sitcom,,,, I watched almost the first one & couldn’t get thru the half hr it was sooooooooooooo stupid…..ughhhhhhhhhhhh
That I have to completely agree with… AP Bio was absolutely one of the dumbest shows ever produced. That just goes to show the level of intelligence that the networks are aiming for.
Also I am enjoying Deception cuz it’s really different for a change of pace,,, not sure this would be happening in a real life scenerio but whateverrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
…..and, all TOO predictably, yet ANOTHER thought-provoking ABC show is left to DIE on the post-LOST metaphorical island – ALONG with, in order, ‘Flashforward’, the VERY similar-themed ‘Resurrection’, and ‘The Dead Of Summer’ – that ‘Under The Dome’ managed to last THREE on CBS, seems somewhat MIRACULOUS in retrospect…..really, WHY do we even BOTHER patronizing these content providers, when they have NO problem leaving US twisting in the wind – REPEATEDLY?
I agree with all of the comments above. We were really enjoying Deception, Designated Survivor, & a few others that have just been canceled. I’ve often wondered about the demographics that the networks are trying to appeal to. Aren’t these the same people who are moving into their parents basements because of financial problems? Decent programs are being canceled for moronic programs where you don’t need to use your mind. (They pulled The Brave after one episode. It was an excellent series.) I’m about to throw in the towel on network TV. Why get invested in a series that’s going to be canceled anyway?
Is ABC keeping any of it’s series this year. Seems like they are keeping all the bad shows and canceling all the good shows like designated Survivor and Deception.
I love The Crossing! I DVR it and watch it when my kids are at school so I’m not interrupted. It never fails I get into a show and they cancel it before they’ve really even given it a try!
As for Deception, I can take it or leave it. I won’t be watching it any longer since they’ve canceled it.
I have high hopes they’ll change their mind and keep The Crossing.
I’m with you! I watch it with my teenage daughters and we LOVE it. This happened to us with Timeless..and we were SO happy when the outpouring from fans brought that back. I really hope this happens with The Crossing.
Wow after 5 shows of the Crossing they decide that it needs to be cancelled, that is so stupid!! No wonder people stop watching network tv when they do crap like this!
I agree with all of you! I’ve been really into The Crossing and now I’m left with the decision of watching the rest of the episodes or just deleting them?!?! These networks are gonna go under if they don’t get their heads out of their a$$es!
Sarah…I am soo with you!!! I watched The Crossing from the beginning, it wasn’t given a chance to grow..I also watched Designated Survivor from the beginning and really got into it although I hear Fox picked it up!!! And am soo glad to hear that!!!!
I’m so tired of starting to watch a new show and then you cancel it. If your going to cancel a show like the Crossing the least you can do is give it an ending. And who decides that it’s the 18-48 who watch tv. Us older folks like tv also. You had one episode of the brave and canceled it. Designated Survivor is a great show for us older folks over 48. We also watch TV and enjoy some shows but lately not on ABC. It used to be my favorite channel but after you cancel The Crossing and Designated Survivor I’m down to just a few.
The programmer for ABC needs to be terminated. Every time a good series appears ABC cancels it after one season. I hope that FOX or CW will pick up these ABC cancellations and keep them going.
We really liked the Crossing but that is the way it goes, these under performing networks don’t give new shows a change, they just keep looking for the goose that lays the golden egg which never comes.
I am about to give up on ABC. I love The Crossing just like I did Ten Days in the Valley. In the past it was Nashville and Revenge that went down probably because I loved them. Currently the only show I like is The Good Doctor. Once that is gone ABC will lose me as a viewer.
I think it is crazy to cancel a show because it falls on Sunday nite . It is a heck of a lot better than half the shows you kept. It’s hard to watch tv on Sunday nite so the ratings won’t be there, try moving it to a different nite and you would be surprised how the ratings would soar. Use your head, not your butt for decisions
Ditto!! Another good show not given the time to shine, The Crossing I felt had good potential.
Maybe we give the network the boot and go 100% to cable.
I really like Deception and Designated Survivor so wish we could have them renewed. Especially with the endings they had I would like to see it wrapped up better. Plus Designated Survivor shows the good in politics and we need more of that. Also need to see what happens due to Jonathan taking Cameron’s place and leaving him in jail. All Cameron did to help his brother you would think he would appreciate him. Of course the Mystery Woman got in Jonathan’s head which did not help.
yeah these networks need to start paying attention to their audience not their ratings or whatever bonehead is in charge fire his ass stop canceling the good shows
I have read the above comment. I agree with the facts, why do they keep pulling shows that are clean family shows. Deception is one the whole group of us love. What is wrong with the heads of programming? They should put their shows in ours for a while. We are now currently raising our 9 and 10 yr old grandchildren as their parents are off doing everything illegal they can and get away with it. Whats wrong with watching shows that are not about sex drugs and talking back and talking nothing but bad language. Oh did I mention no politics! I’m so tired of the horrible shows that teach insensibility, kids running the adults around, the lack of everything that is good and moral. I know nothing is forever, hopefully the head of networks are part of that group. If they are reading any of the replies by us normal people, why don’t you consider leaving or bring back the above mentioned shows and also code black, and scorpion.
I guess this is just a way to vent our frustration, for who ever listens?
