Designated Survivor Cancelled By ABC – No Season 3

May 11, 2018 by TVShowsCancelled 34 Comments

ABC has cancelled Designated Survivor after two seasons. The network has opted not to renew the Kiefer Sutherland drama for Season 3.

The cancellation comes despite the series inking a rich streaming deal with Netflix. Ultimately, that deal was only enough to secure the show into Season 2.

Per sources, there are no plans to shop Designated Survivor Season 3 to other outlets.

PLEASE LET NETFLIX OBTAIN THE RIGHTS TO DESIGNATED SURVIVOR SEASON 3 SO THAT THEY CAN LET THE SHOW GO ON. IT IS AN EXCELLENT SHOW WITH A WONDERFUL PRESIDENT! HE IS SO KIND AND SOFT SPOKEN THAT I WISH HE REALLY WAS THE PRESIDENT OF THE U.S.A.(and hope he runs for the President at the next election).

Kiefer was actually born in England, but both of his parents were Canadian, so he actually has citizenship in both of those countries.

One of his grandfathers, Tommy Douglas, actually created Canada’s single-payer health care system. If Kiefer were the actual President, he could make his grandpa proud and do the same thing for Americans.

Irony there is that the US Constitution says a President must be a natural born citizen, so even in a “Designated Survivor type of scenario, he would never legally be able to be President.

And yes, Netflix should definitely pick up this show. And “Lucifer” as well!

why do they always cancel the good shows. i can’t believe they are doing this. I hope they do shop the series around. It is one of the best cast and shows on TV. You are making a big MISTAKE not having a season 3.

It is becoming a serious issue with me that great shows like Designated Survivor are regularly seem to get cancelled. I don’t understand any ” logic” behind taking good solid ,well written & beautifully acted shows off the air. It is totally mindboggling. Come the Fall season in fact all year I find myself more & more reluctant to start watching any new programs because in the majority of cases they get cancelled.I sincerely wish the powers to be rethink their decision .

Why does ABC perpetually cancel the best shows? “Designated Survivor” had a large following and would have continued to have a following equal to shows that have lasted far in excess of 3 to 6 seasons (i.e. “Greys Anatomy”, and “Scandal”)!
Bringing “Quantico” back for 3 episodes was like dangling candy in front of a child! And, of course,
cancelling “The Crossing” resembled the cancellation of “The Brave”….another good program, with a growing, watching audience that would have kept viewers tuned to ABC. Maybe the solution is to stop watching ABC and tune to networks that know what their viewers really like?? !!

I am in agreement ! This was one of my favorite shows, and I looked forward to watching every week. My only guess as to why the good shows get cancelled and the CRAP, such as Grey’s Anatomy, Empire, and ALL of those moronic adult aimed cartoons like Bob’s Burgers, Simpsons, and all the rest, is that the American public has been so dumbed down by this brain rotting garbage, that they can’t tell when something is really worth tuning in for. So, I’m with the person that said that it is time to stop watching maybe ALL of the networks until they have more consideration for the few intelligent people still watching TV !! The same goes for The Crossing !! I am really getting into it and now we’ll never see how it might have turned out. And then they bring back old shows that have already run their course, like Roseanne, Magnum PI, Charmed, and cancel quality programs to make room. It is just so STUPID !!!

I can’t beli you are canceling Desiignated Survivor. It’s is such a great show and one that I actually like all the carectors in it. It seem that every time a really good show come along lately you get rid of it. Kiefer Sutherland is such a good actor in what ever he plays. I think it’s a terrible mistake to cancel this show unless it’s because Kiefer wants out.

I watched this religiously but when Michael J Fox came on board, I got bored with the character and the show.. Mistake to cast Fox in this role. Feel sorry for his disability but he just isn’t “star” quality any more. As for Netflix, I don’t subscribe, won’t subscribe so in the unlikely event they pick this up, I won’t be seeing it anymore.

To say I’m highly disappointed this show has been cancelled is an understatement. I absolutely LOVED Designated Survivor!! I found it to be smart, timely, relevant, and it had great story lines and some fine acting. What I wouldn’t give for the real-life president to be like Tom Kirkman (sigh). Oh, well… I still have my DVR’d copies that I can watch whenever the mood strikes me. and DAMMN you, ABC!!
