SHOWTIME DEBUTS IMMERSIVE “WU-SEUM” AT DOLBY SOHO IN HONOR OF NEW DOCUSERIES WU-TANG CLAN: OF MICS AND MEN

The Experiential Wu-Tang Clan Tribute Opens To The Public On Thursday, May 16 In New York

NEW YORK – May 7, 2019 – SHOWTIME, along with Mass Appeal, will debut an immersive Wu-Tang Clan tribute in New York City at Dolby Soho from May 16-19 in honor of the upcoming docuseries WU-TANG CLAN: OF MICS AND MEN. As the group marks the 25th anniversary of its breakout debut album Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers), the “WU-SEUM” will feature experiential installations highlighting their fascinating journey from the projects to international superstardom. The four-part limited docuseries from filmmaker Sacha Jenkins (BURN MOTHERF*CKER, BURN!) will premiere on SHOWTIME on Friday, May 10 at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

The “WU-SEUM” at Dolby Soho is the only place fans can experience interactive Wu-Tang Clan music and clips from the SHOWTIME docuseries mastered in Dolby technologies. There will also be areas themed to pivotal moments in the Wu-Tang Clan’s story, such as RZA’s basement (where the group first formed) and a tribute to the late Wu-Tang member, Ol’ Dirty Bastard. Dolby Vision enhances images through increased contrast and brightness in color, while Dolby Atmos takes music to a three-dimensional space. Located at 477 Broadway, Dolby Soho is a newly opened space where science meets art and technology meets imagination. The “WU-SEUM” exhibit will be open from Thursday, May 16 through Sunday, May 19 from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. For more information, please visit: https://soho.dolby.com.

WU-TANG CLAN: OF MICS AND MEN  follows the founding members – RZA, GZA, Ol’ Dirty Bastard, Inspectah Deck, Raekwon the Chef, U-God, Ghostface Killah, Method Man, Masta Killa and Cappadonna – many of whom were childhood friends in the hardscrabble world of ’70s and ’80s Staten Island and Brooklyn. It’s a look back on their careers, combining intimate and reflective interviews from each of the nine living members with never-before-seen archival footage and performances. Their ingenuity and entrepreneurial spirit brought them together to overcome the poverty, violence and oppression of their neighborhoods. But it was music and their shared lyrical genius that allowed them to form the most recognized musical movement in the world, all while walking the treacherous tightrope that links business with brotherhood. The docuseries is a Mass Appeal production in association with Endeavor Content. Peter J. Scalettar and Peter Bittenbender serve as executive producers.
