Judge Romesh Renewed For Season 2 By Dave

March 27, 2019 by TVShowsCancelled Leave a Comment

Judge Romesh

Romesh Ranganathan will once again don his robes and bang the gavel as the inimitable Judge Romesh, which returns to Dave for an extended second series in 2019 (12×30′). From the moment he bounces into the courtroom over a blaring hip hop soundtrack, Judge Romesh is in charge and his decree is final, making barely informed decisions on trivial real-life disputes. Helping the judge run the rule over each case are his trusty bailiff Tom Davis and Jessica Knappett as the court’s clerk.

Romesh Ranganathan said,

It is great to be able to do a second series of Judge Romesh. Some may think it’s because it’s an easy job, the money’s good and I’m working with mates, but the truth is I’m purely motivated by helping people with the problems that they, for some reason, believe to be important.

The ten episodes of Judge Romesh series one were seen by 3.7million viewers. Judge Romesh is produced by Hungry Bear Media, commissioned for UKTV by Joe McVey, commissioning editor, and ordered by Richard Watsham, director of commissioning and Luke Hales, Dave channel director. Judge Romesh is directed by Ollie Bartlett, series produced by Adam Hutchinson and executive produced for Hungry Bear Media by Dan Baldwin and Andy Price.

Joe McVey said,

I’m thrilled to be back in the court of the nations’ leading (unqualified) judge. Mainly because there’s always a tub of Celebrations at the back of the gallery.

Luke Hales said,

What a pleasure, to be able to bring back Judge Romesh. His brilliance at being funny is only dwarfed by his ineptitude at all legal matters.

Dan Baldwin, managing director of Hungry Bear Media, said,

Hungry Bear are absolutely delighted that Dave have ordered Judge Romesh to return for another (extended) series. Expect more cases, more controversial verdicts, more arguments, more laughs and far less patience from Romesh. If there is something that is certain, it’s this: A judge has never been more marginally bothered about finding some sort of justice. Ever.

Judge Romesh joins other returning favourites for Dave in 2019 such as Taskmaster, Porters, John Richardson: Ultimate Worrier and Yianni: Supercar Customiser, as well as Hypothetical, devised and hosted by Josh Widdicombe and James Acaster, and the brand new scripted comedy Sliced, co-written by and starring BAFTA nominee Samson Kayo. Expedition with Steve Backshall, UKTV’s co-production with BBC, airs later in the year.

Praise for Judge Romesh:
Heat – ***** – “Hilarious courtroom-based comedy … Bloody brilliant fun”
Radio Times – “right now, everything Ranganathan touches turns to gold”
Telegraph – “another fine high concept comedy from Dave”
Guardian – “Romesh Ranganathan’s strong year continues”
Daily Mail – “the format fits Ranganthan’s dry and logical style well”
Total TV Guide – “He’s brilliant at his off-the-cuff remarks … watch out Judge Rinder!”
