The First has crashed and burned.
Hulu has cancelled the Sean Penn-led space drama after one season, TVShowsCancelled.com has confirmed.
Per sources, The First will not return for Season 2, and will not be shopped to other outlets, making it Hulu’s first high-profile one-and-done series.
RIP.
Fortunately there is a certain logic to making this a one and done which makes a change but it still would have been nice to see Hulu get properly behind an SF series.
What was the point in that? Get to know all the characters, their struggles and worries about their loved ones going to Mars – do they even reach Mars? We’ll never know now! Shame there couldn’t have been a season 2.
Wow, killed off a good show with a great cast. Wonder what they’ll go with instead.
