Christmas Special synopsis
As Poplar prepares for Christmas, the nuns travel to the Mother House to elect a new mother superior. Sister Julienne is the obvious replacement and must face this possibility, as her future at Nonnatus House hangs in the balance.
As they ready to leave, Sister Mildred, an indefatigable sister from their order, arrives unexpectedly with her hands full with four Chinese orphans on route to the Children’s Home at the Mother House. Touched by the plight of the children at the Home, the Nonnatus family and two new nuns, Sister Hilda and Sister Frances, come together to give them a Christmas Nativity that they will remember. Back in Poplar, Trixie returns from Portofino refreshed and with her troubles well and truly behind her and Valerie leads the baby ballet Christmas performance.
Episode one synopsis
It’s springtime, and with extra help needed in Poplar Mother Mildred decides to send Sister Frances and Sister Hilda to Nonnatus House, where they will live and work.Everyone is excited for the impending arrival of the Queen’s baby. Violet is holding a Teddy Bears’ Picnic and raising funds through a sweepstake on whether the Queen will have a boy or a girl. The midwives are introduced to their new midwifery bags but Sister Monica Joan is distressed when she sees Fred burning the old leather ones.
Lucille is caring for heavily pregnant Lesley White, whose sister Cath, an aspiring model, has been feeling extremely unwell. Back at the maternity home, Shelagh has to step in to help Trixie with a birth that takes a surprise turn.
As previously-reported, Call The Midwife is safely renewed through Season 9 in 2020. Will the show survive into Season 10, 11 or beyond? Stay tuned…

I never thought I would watch this show I was in a airport trying to get home and someone at the bar had it on their Pc and I watch it and I like it I told my wife about it she has been wacth from season 1 So we order all the season from BBC 1 and I was able to catch up with it to season 6 now with each new season we lock the doors turn off the light a and wacth the best BBC show that still on the air with the doors lock we may have to CALL THE MIDWIFE…..
